I made the poncho on the right a ways back for Sofia (and then didn't finish it) but now it's too small for her. Today I whipped up the one she's wearing - and now they have matching ponchos!!! Since we're nearing the end of the cold season here, I'm hoping they'll be good for next year. 

Still have the walls and ceiling to paint and the final coat on the cabinets. Oh, and Chris has a metal trim planned for the bottom of the upper cabinets to hide the cutesy scalloping. We are pleased, even the floor looks better now. 

Getting there... the trim is done, knobs installed, backsplash done, electrical mostly done. The paint is just the primer coat - the real color is a stronger, "grassy" green.  

Ok, strawberry breath, let's go.

We went to the strawberry field this afternoon with some other preschool kids to pick strawberries among other things. Look at these cuties... Maia and Clare. 

More on the kitchen

This photo doesn't show it that well, but the window sill is really the piece de resistence... Chris cut and finished a nice piece of birch. We're figuring out the electrical now. The hanging light in this picture is temporary (cute thing from IKEA will go somewhere else). Chris has some fancy light fixture in mind that he's going to make. It's too bad we have to work... otherwise we'd just be busy all the time with our little projects. I've been busy with baby twin projects. I made them a couple blankets and a bandana-flag-banner room decoration. Hard to describe... maybe I'll put a picture up.

The latest... the first coat of concrete is up (it's dry in this picture.) 

We drove to Silverlake to see Marisa today, our favorite hair stylist. What, you say. You have a hair style? Yes, so Chris and I got our hairs cut and Maia got a tiny little trim. Yes, we kept the tail.

More progress... we have the back splash and painting left for the big jobs and then the little details like cabinet pulls, toe-kick board and other trim. It's functional now though, yay!

I took some photos with the old camera and for some reason they came out a little grainy, but I did get some nice shots, like this one from January. 

Um, what happened here?

The kitchen job just got a little bigger. I can't possibly explain here how this all happened, but here we are with no kitchen to speak of... It is so tempting to just rip out the floor too, but that will have to wait. We have some new cabinets in boxes in the living room from IKEA, without which this all would not be possible. Love that place. The upper cabinets are going to stay for now. This is not the big remodel - we still can't move the dishwasher closer to the sink and the hulk of a refrigerator has to stay in the corner. Chris assures me that this will all be done by the end of the week - haha just kidding, hopefully by the end of the month. For now we're eating frozen Trader Joe's meals on paper plates - love that place, too.

Um, dude, I think you're lost. This guy was out in front this morning. Last I checked, we didn't have any marshes nearby. I think it's a Great Egret.
