Christmas at the Hillman's
Santa found Sofia in Encinitas this Christmas, where we were enjoying the holiday with the Hillmans and the Helgrens. Sofia was very excited about all her presents except maybe the book we bought her called "I'm a Big Sister Now". I'm not sure I'll remember next year, but sometimes all you need is the $10 stroller to make a 2 year old happy.

First Customers
Yay! The gold finches finally found the feeder. It's hard to see but there are at least 6 birds on the feeder in this photo and many others fluttering around jockeying for a spot. Sofia was enjoying watching them until she shreiked and they all flew away. It only took a few minutes for them to return. Now I just need to inch it closer to the house so we can torment Rocky, oops I mean get better photos.

We went to a Haggard family reunion this weekend in Encinitas. Most of the Haggard clan was there, so there was lots of picture taking... this is the best one we got of our little family. Shortly after this one, Sofia stuck her finger up her nose and got such a positive response from everyone that she decided to keep it there for the rest of the picture taking session. Our little discussions about germs and "boogies" went right out the window. I know, it's just a phase, right?

Dentist
Sofia and I went to the dentist today. Sofia was very patient and well behaved while waiting for me to have my teeth cleaned. I was having visions of her running around terrorizing the poor front desk people. It helped that the dentist has a two year old and knew how to talk to her, distract her, etc and gave her some cups and toothbrushes to play with. Then it came to be Sofia's turn and she was very good about opening her mouth while the dentist "counted" her teeth. But, when it came time for the polishing, she clammed up. Would not open her mouth. She didn't like the sound of the polishing tool and wasn't about to let it in her mouth. We tried for what seemed like an eternity to convince her, bribe her, reason with her, and finally she opened her lips to clean the two front teeth. Oh well, I'm sure next time will go better. She is now used to Daddy's drill and will even "help Daddy" and she's finally getting used to the vacuum.
